Job Description : About The Role

Are you a qualified engineer looking for your next role? We’re growing our engineering team with a new Project Engineering role. This is a permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday), where you'll ensure our state-of-the-art, fully automated fridge recycling plant operates smoothly. Your mission? To keep our facilities running efficiently while setting new standards in the recovery of metals, plastics, and gases.

We process 100 fridges per hour, totaling 700,000 annually. Our second site is a fully automated plastic recycling facility using sink-float technology and electrostatic separation to produce high-quality recycled plastics.

At AO Recycling, we aim to maximize value from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) discarded by UK households annually. We are rapidly expanding, offering opportunities to develop and implement new approaches. If you are energetic, hands-on, innovative, and professional, this environment is for you.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

While no two days are the same, your responsibilities will include :

  • Working Monday to Friday day shifts
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of our processes and contributing ideas for optimization
  • Participating in engineering projects, new installations, and refurbishments
  • Carrying out equipment commissioning and testing
  • Conducting dynamic risk assessments and maintaining safety standards
  • Monitoring equipment performance and reporting issues
  • Logging activities in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Applying engineering expertise in problem-solving workshops
  • Providing operational updates during daily review meetings

A Few Things About You

We’d love it if you are :

  • A qualified engineer with a mechanical or electrical bias to at least level 3
  • Experienced in similar process, production, or manufacturing environments
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Highly organized with good planning skills
  • Knowledgeable about Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and safe systems of work
  • Experienced in plant installations and optimizations
  • A Bit About Us

We handle a wide range of appliances and electricals—washing machines, TVs, laptops, and more. We’re dedicated to helping our customers and our AOers, caring about more than just your CV, because together, we can achieve extraordinary things.

    Our benefits include :

  • 30 days holiday, including bank holidays
  • Contributory pension scheme (5% employee + 5% employer)
  • VIP access to AO Arena tickets and pre-sales
  • Health & wellbeing benefits, including discounted gym memberships and virtual GP support
  • Exclusive discounts on products
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Two paid days annually for charity work
  • Monthly "Free Food Thursday" lunches
