Job Description

We are recruiting for a Quality Control Specialist (QCS) for our UK private label operations.

They will ensure Unit Team comply to standards, specifications and procedures and coach the Unit teams in all matters QC with an introduction to QA. QCS need to demonstrate the relevant technical competencies, including Dairy Technology and manage all activities related to quality control (QC).

They shall provide an effective service to the business with proactive advice and guidance on Quality Control findings and trouble shoot by working with key stakeholders within the Unit and the Quality Assurance (QA) resource found in the business unit (Q-BU).

Quality Control job holders shall provide quality oversight for the testing, logging and reporting of food and packaging products to assure compliance with Food law, guidelines / retailer standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other applicable regulations and internal procedures. They will support, at site, inspection, standards and continuous improvement of Quality Control. Collating site data and providing comprehensive, quality information back to the Q-BU / Site QA on QC performance.

Location - Telford

Shift Pattern - 4 on 4 off 7-7 days only

Quality Control Specialists (QCS) Are Responsible For

Quality control function within the Unit and the Units technology expertise in the conversion process of raw materials into Finished Product (FP).

Controlling, implementing, optimising actioning and ultimately checking that products and services meet required food safety and quality standards and specifications laid down by legal, Group or MYD standards.

They will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, intermediate goods / products / finished goods and processes comply with all current specifications and are ready for use by the Unit Team.

The QCS works closely with the MPS Tech (focus on MPS and Technical / Engineering optimisation activity) with regard to TOTAL process optimisation.

Works closely with the Dairy Process Technologist who is the subject matter expert in technological disciplines (Process, raw materials, dairy, food safety, hygiene management and CIP technology).

What responsibilities are common for Quality Control Specialist job?

General support to the Unit Team regarding Unit team quality standards, specifications, optimisation and procedures.

Proactively promote and encourage the adoption of hygienic working practices in line with Factory Standards policy.

Quality, control and hygiene / food safety training of Unit Team members. Coach to improve and reinforce performance of others, ensure that resource allocation fits the needs of the business.

Walk the Floor' - looking for potential / emerging Quality / Technical issues and liaise with other members of the quality and Unit team on specific issues within manufacturing.

Ensure day Q-issues handed to night shift to ensure food safety and quality production specifications are met. This includes HOLD and RELEASE of Finished product.

Be the SME for the area of expertise in all Quality Control matters relevant to the discipline by demonstrating knowledge of processes, systems, platforms, services and workflows of the business.

Support Unit RCA, SP reduction plans and CPMU reduction plans.

Work with the Unit team leadership and pro-actively promote a positive food safety and quality culture.

Ensuring that all required testing is completed to standard and specification by ensuring Unit Team Members record results from QC activity accurately and timely by conducting daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual checks 24 / 7.

Ensure the Unit team collect hygienic samples as per sampling plans within the Quality Management system and testing matrix.

Skills And Qualification

A keen eye for detail and ability to work on own initiative

Good communication skill; written & oral

Ability to work both alone and as part of a team in a busy environment

The ability to work under pressure

Pro-active approach to continued professional development of self

IT literate, be able to write a technical report

Dairy / Food quality / safety experience - Desirable

Problem solving skills

Food science / Mircobiology degree (desirable)
