Gap technical are seeking an experienced
Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer
to support a leading chemical manufacturing site. The successful candidate will be
apprentice-trained , hold valid
CompEx certification , and possess strong experience working in
COMAH-regulated or chemical processing environments . Key Responsibilities : Carry out
planned and reactive electrical maintenance
across site assets, including pumps, motors, control panels, and instrumentation. Diagnose and rectify electrical faults quickly and safely to reduce downtime. Ensure compliance with
ATEX / DSEAR regulations , working safely in potentially explosive atmospheres. Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems and components, producing accurate documentation. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades. Work closely with engineering, operations, and HSE teams to maintain site reliability and safety. Maintain accurate maintenance records in line with CMMS and site standards. Requirements : Apprentice-trained
Electrical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). CompEx certification (Ex01 - Ex04)
is essential. Experience working within
chemical, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical
environments (ideally COMAH). Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills on a wide range of electrical systems. Knowledge of
ATEX zones , intrinsically safe equipment, and hazardous area classification. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and P&IDs. Excellent awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards. Desirable : 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations. Previous experience working on
instrumentation
and / or PLC systems. Familiarity with CMMS systems IOSH or equivalent HSE training. Apply
