Functional Skills Teacher – Secondary SEN Provision – Bromley

Location : Bromley, South East London

Position : Functional Skills Teacher (Level 2)

Contract : Part-time (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

Start Date : Immediate

Salary : £25,758  – £53,994

A specialist secondary provision in Bromley is seeking a committed and adaptable Functional Skills Teacher to join its team on a part-time basis. This setting supports students with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Delivering well-structured, differentiated lessons at Level 2 Functional Skills
  • Supporting students ’ academic, social, and emotional development in line with individual learning plans
  • Promoting a calm, safe, and respectful classroom environment
  • Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff to manage behaviour positively and proactively
  • Demonstrating a willingness to support pupils during emotional dysregulation , including the use of appropriate de-escalation and intervention strategies.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress , adapting teaching approaches as needed

The ideal candidate will :

  • Have relevant experience delivering Functional Skills (particularly Level 2)
  • Be confident working with students with additional behavioural and emotional needs
  • Be open to using positive behaviour management strategies, including physical intervention where required to keep pupils and staff safe (training and support provided)
  • Bring resilience, empathy , and creativity to the role
  • QTS is not essential – the school welcomes applications from ECT teachers with strong subject knowledge and SEN experience

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
