Teaching Personnel are seeking to recruit an Alternative Provision Tutor for a Secondary school in Northampton!

Job Title : Alternative Provision Tutor

Salary : NJC 12, FTE £27,711 per annum (pro rata : £24,340.74)

Job Type : Full Time, Permanent

Hours : 37 hours per week

Job Overview

An inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Alternative Provision Tutor to join its dedicated support team. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and development of the school's Internal Alternative Provision
  • Deliver effective behaviour and learning support strategies
  • Encourage student engagement and focus through individualised approaches
  • Use de-escalation techniques in managing challenging behaviour
  • Monitor pupil progress, set behaviour and academic targets, and track improvements
  • Maintain regular, positive communication with parents and carers
  • Liaise with internal staff and external agencies to support student outcomes
  • Coordinate and facilitate academic work in the provision setting
  • Support the reintegration of students back into mainstream classes
  • Work closely with SEND teams and pastoral staff to address individual needs

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have :

  • GCSE / NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or Alternative Provision setting
  • A strong understanding of positive behaviour management strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build respectful, supportive relationships
  • An understanding of how to meet the needs of SEND and vulnerable pupils
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum and personalised learning approaches
  • A flexible, team-oriented attitude and a calm, consistent approach
  • Awareness of safeguarding, inclusion, and support practices in education
