We are actively growing our business and looking to hire a senior Process Safety Engineering Principal Consultant, ideally based in Manchester, but other Northern England locations such as Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, or Newcastle are also considered, with a hybrid working model.

The role

You will manage and participate in client and internal projects aimed at improving the safety and operation of hazardous processing facilities. This senior, customer-facing role requires strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, management experience, and technical expertise.

You will apply your knowledge of COMAH and other process safety legislation across various high-hazard industries, including chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and explosives, supporting multiple projects and developing new business.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Developing new and existing services based on client needs.
  • Creating process engineering standards, manuals, and procedures.
  • Conducting audits and reviews of client site practices.
  • Interfacing with various functional groups to resolve process safety issues.
  • Performing onsite surveys and producing as-built documentation.
  • Conducting hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA).
  • Providing process engineering expertise for design and safety studies.
  • Supporting strategic development projects and team development.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Leading multiple projects and fostering a collaborative environment.

About You

Ideal candidates are chartered chemical or process engineers with experience in process plant design, legislation (especially COMAH), and strong communication skills. Personal integrity, good relationships, and team contribution are essential.
