First Rail Stirling is a new enterprise and start-up rail operator that will run a long-haul train service crossing the country from London to Stirling, reconnecting Stirling with a direct service to the West Coast of England.

About the job

We are hiring a Fleet Engineer on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanence. The Fleet Engineer will be a key part of our Lumo-Stirling service, ensuring safe and efficient operations while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include reviewing and implementing fleet modifications and upgrades, analyzing maintenance and performance data for optimization, and supporting the engineering team in all operational aspects, including compliance with safety standards and project management of industry initiatives. The role also involves providing support during incidents and disruptions.

About you :

• Experience in fleet operations and service delivery, including contract management.
• Ability to work effectively within an engineering team aligned with business goals.
• Proactive problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach.
• Strong engineering background relevant to the rail industry.
• Familiarity with Class 222 rolling stock.
• Willingness to undergo training on office software such as SAP, HFMT, SOROS, MS Office, and other relevant systems.
• Audit qualifications to review engineering procedures and suppliers.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly.
