Job description

Linum Consult’s client is an international main contractor, currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the contractual and commercial aspects of various construction projects in Surrey.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and implementing cost management strategies to optimise project profitability
  • Overseeing management accounts and business planning processes to ensure financial outcomes are achieved and maximised
  • Managing the integration of new accounting systems (Xero & Eque2) whilst safeguarding existing operations
  • Collaborating with the accounts and procurement departments to align with the current procurement strategy
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining a comprehensive database of subcontractors
  • Maintaining a detailed register of all existing and pending contracts and warranty obligations
  • Reviewing contract terms and conditions, including JCT protocols and PO / subcontract terms, and highlighting areas of concern in collaboration with the company solicitor
  • Ensuring all contract documentation is thoroughly reviewed and executed before project commencement
  • Ensuring all commercial activities comply with internal procedures and external regulations governing business operations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, with a professional membership to RICS or equivalent
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial role within the construction industry, particularly on Mechanical & Electrical installation projects
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration
  • Familiarity with legal frameworks, JCT contracts, and tendering processes
  • Ideally have experience with financial systems such as Xero and Eque2
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clear and precise reports
