Role : Senior Software Engineer – Vice President (Java Focus)

Salary : £65,000 - £94,000

Location : Hybrid – Knutsford (near Manchester), 2 days per week onsite (also options for Glasgow campus)

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead development and delivery of high-quality, scalable software using Java, Spring Boot , and other core languages such as TypeScript / React / Angular, Golang, or Python
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and design effective solutions
Conduct and participate in code reviews, promoting best practices and a culture of engineering excellence
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering continuous learning and growth
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, contributing to internal tech communities
Ensure adherence to secure coding standards to protect sensitive data and reduce vulnerabilities
Develop and maintain robust unit tests to guarantee software reliability and maintainability
Drive architectural decisions and long-term technology strategy aligned with business needs
Manage risk and strengthen control frameworks related to software development and delivery

What You’ll Bring

Proven, stable career as a software engineer with strong technical progression — not a journeyman contractor

Expert proficiency in at least one core language : Java / Spring Boot , TypeScript / React / Angular, Golang, or Python

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts

Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams

Excellent communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders alike

Confidence in navigating, integrating, and developing solutions across multiple systems

Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and secure coding best practices

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and CI / CD pipelines is a plus

Familiarity with SQL / NoSQL databases and version control systems like Git

Strong leadership and ownership mindset with a commitment to engineering excellence
