Edinburgh

I am seeking a highly skilled Digital Design Engineer with strong DSP (Digital Signal Processing) experience to join a growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing power-efficient RTL designs for custom DSP blocks, contributing to the development of high-performance, low-power digital hardware for advanced communication systems and signal processing applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement efficient RTL (VHDL / SystemVerilog) for DSP algorithms such as filters, transforms, and modulators.
  • Collaborate with algorithm and architecture teams to translate high-level DSP models into optimized hardware implementations.
  • Develop and refine custom digital architectures that are area- and power-efficient.
  • Analyze and implement power- and performance-driven trade-offs in RTL design.
  • Support verification and validation of DSP blocks, including testbench development and debugging.
  • Interface with physical design and software teams to ensure successful integration and tape-out.
  • Stay informed on latest trends in DSP techniques, low-power design strategies, and silicon technologies.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree (BSc / MSc / PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in DSP concepts, including filter design, spectral analysis, and signal conditioning.
  • Proven experience in RTL design using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
  • Deep understanding of power-efficient digital design techniques.
  • Experience in custom hardware development for DSP applications.
  • Familiarity with fixed-point and floating-point arithmetic implementations.
  • Experience with ASIC or FPGA design flows, including synthesis and timing closure.
  • Understanding of communication systems and protocols is a strong advantage.
  • Competency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl for automation is desirable.
  • On offer is a competitive base salary + RSUs and the opportunity to work on cutting edge designs. You must be eligible to work in the UK and be onsite 3 days per week in the Edinburgh office.
