Job descriptionProven experience in designing and managing data platforms within Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and Data Factory. A strong understanding of modern data architecture, including data modelling, ETL / ELT processes, and supporting advanced analytics and AI workloads. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Bicep, Terraform), automation, and CI / CD pipelines for data services. A commitment to best practices in data security, governance, and performance optimisation in a cloud environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical colleagues, researchers, and wider stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
About the Role
As Senior Azure Data Platform Engineer, you will :
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of the University's Azure-based data platform to support research and institutional data initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with academic researchers, data scientists, and IT colleagues to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions across the Azure ecosystem.
- Implement and manage data pipelines, Lakehouse architectures, and storage strategies to enable advanced analytics and AI-driven research.
- Champion best practices in data governance, security, and automation across the cloud platform.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of cloud data services, ensuring alignment with the University's digital research ambitions and broader cloud strategy.
