SEND Class Teacher - Secondary Specialist Academy

Aspire People are proud to be supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking Secondary Specialist Academy, which is currently seeking an inspiring and innovative SEND Class Teacher to join their team in September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions / Disorders (ASC / D). The role is open to both experienced teachers and ECTs, with strong support and development opportunities available for the right candidate.

About The Role

You will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised, engaging, and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of students aged 11-16 with complex SEND. Your classroom will be a safe, structured environment that fosters confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons in line with individual EHCPs and learning profiles
Use a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to behaviour and classroom management
Establish clear routines and expectations to support pupils with SEMH and ASC / D needs
Develop strong relationships with students, colleagues, families, and external professionals
Monitor, assess and report on student progress and adapt teaching accordingly
Participate in regular reviews, team meetings, and CPD sessions
Contribute to a positive and nurturing school culture that promotes respect and resilience

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

QTS or QTLS (or pending for ECTs)

Knowledge of SEND best practice, particularly SEMH and ASC / D

A calm, adaptable and empathetic approach to teaching and behaviour management

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The ability to plan for and deliver to a range of abilities within the classroom

A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners

Desirable (but Not Essential)

Previous experience in a specialist or alternative provision setting

Team Teach or equivalent behaviour de-escalation training

Understanding of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches
