Job Title : Health & Safety Manager

Location : UK-based, Remote working, 3-4 days per week (with travel to sites across the UK and possibly internationally)

Salary : £50,000 - £60,000 (FTE)

We're seeking an experienced and forward-thinking professional to lead the Group’s Health & Safety function across all UK-based entities. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering a cohesive H&S strategy that goes beyond compliance — promoting a strong, proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership and local teams to provide expert guidance, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement. With a focus on employee wellbeing and operational resilience, you’ll have the scope and support to make a lasting impact across a dynamic and varied business landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Group-wide Health & Safety strategy in line with current UK legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations) and ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001).
  • Ensure H&S systems, policies, and procedures are current, consistent, and effectively implemented across all business units.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to entity-level teams and senior management on legal obligations, incident management, and risk reduction.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and gap analyses to identify non-compliance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee and support incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis is completed and effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead or support HSE training initiatives to ensure competence across all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering on workplace design, ergonomics, and safe systems of work.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE, Local Authorities), insurers, and accreditation bodies.
  • Track and assess emerging legislation, standards, and industry developments to future-proof the Group’s H&S policies and practices.
  • Promote employee engagement and safety culture through communication, campaigns, and recognition programs

Person Specification

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards
  • Extensive experience in a senior H&S role, ideally in a multi-site or group structure
  • In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001)
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, construction, or logistics sectors
  • Experience with international HSE standards or EHS integration
  • Environmental or sustainability qualifications (e.g. IEMA)
  • Benefits

  • Base salary £50,000 - £60,000 FTE
  • Private healthcare and pension
