The Mozilla Strategic Communications team is responsible for leading the Foundation’s conversation with the wider world. We ensure Mozilla speaks with a consistent, compelling voice that meets the moment. We serve as a trusted internal periscope into audiences, channels, trends, and products relevant to Mozilla’s programs, mission, and values, generating appealing, inclusive, evergreen dialogues that build a global community of support and engagement.

The team delivers strategic work—like crafting messaging and yearly plans—and tactical work, such as press pitching, social media posts, and content marketing.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Communications Director, this role is responsible for crafting an impactful presence for Mozilla Foundation and our values. This role will expand outreach using mechanisms like social listening, news judgment, community management, external partnerships, and more.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, creative, opportunistic, a self-starter, and capable of attracting and engaging key audiences through impactful storytelling. Quick learners, able to generate high-quality written materials, and adept marketers are preferred.

Principal Responsibilities

Project Management (50%)

  • Create and execute strategic, goal-based, data-centric communications and marketing plans for campaigns and communities, often on rapid response timelines.
  • Develop and implement unified processes encompassing advocacy, communications, and community building.
  • Lead project management for outputs from the StratComms Studio.
  • Liaise with internal teams to plan and execute campaigns, events, and engagement opportunities to expand Mozilla’s reach.
  • Supervise rapid-response marketing and communications initiatives as needed.

Strategy Development and Insights (30%)

  • Collaborate on strategic planning and messaging with leadership across Communications, Mobilization, and Communities.
  • Develop and implement issue-specific communication strategies aligned with Mozilla’s goals.
  • Work with digital teams to optimize online presence for engagement and conversion.
  • Measure and analyze communication initiatives, refining strategies accordingly.
  • Copywriting and Brand Building (20%)

  • Develop audience-specific communication and marketing strategies focused on data, education, and community.
  • Ensure consistency with style guides, verbal identity, and core messages across all channels.
  • Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of corporate communications, with excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Proven project management experience leading large, cross-functional projects.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and audience engagement.
  • Experience in brand development, positioning, and identity management.
  • Ability to craft compelling stories across multiple platforms.
  • Established press relationships and ability to forge new ones.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams and leadership.
