About the Company

Join our client’s dynamic and growing design team as a Primary Substation Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge high-voltage (11kV to 132kV) primary substation projects. Based in Glasgow (you could be remote), you will play a pivotal role in the technical delivery and detailed design of projects that support the power distribution industry. About the Role

Responsibilities

• Substation Design Expertise : Produce and review layout drawings, equipment specifications, and design packages in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination : Collaborate with Civil, Protection & Control, M&E, and SCADA design teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Technical Problem-Solving : Address and resolve technical queries by liaising with clients, manufacturers, and project managers.
• Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of HV substation components, BS EN standards, design methodologies for AIS / GIS substations, and environmental considerations in projects.
• Design Tools : Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, with familiarity in BIM as a bonus.
• Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all designs meet CDM 2015 regulations and adhere to health and safety requirements.
• Communication & Teamwork : Exhibit strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills while working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Additional Skills : Knowledge of earthing & bonding principles, underground cable calculations, and substation automation systems.

Qualifications

Full UK driving licence required.

Required Skills
