The Client

Harmonic are proud to be working exclusively with a fast-growing international group headquartered in London, with operations across Europe and North America. The business oversees a portfolio of specialist service companies, each with a strong reputation in their respective fields, combining commercial rigour with a progressive and collaborative culture.

Following consistent growth and international expansion, the business is now looking for a Financial Controller to lead the UK finance function and act as a key partner to senior leadership. The environment is fast paced, dynamic and team oriented, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and working with ambitious stakeholders.

The Role

This is a senior position with full responsibility for the UK finance team, overseeing multiple business units and working closely with group-level finance leadership. Managing a team of 8, you will take ownership of reporting, forecasting, controls and systems, while also contributing to broader strategy, process improvements and cross-functional projects.

You will work across a variety of business models with international stakeholders and support the implementation of best practices in line with group objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially savvy and hands-on leader looking to shape a finance function in a high-growth setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and manage the UK finance team (8 people), covering AP, AR, billing, reporting and internal controls
  • Oversee the month-end close process, including journal entries, P&L review, cash flow forecasting and reconciliations
  • Prepare and present budget forecasts, management accounts and variance analysis to senior stakeholders
  • Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations
  • Act as a key liaison for audit, tax and external advisory relationships
  • Work closely with global finance colleagues to align processes, reporting and controls with wider group standards
  • Support system improvements and help manage ERP and workflow platform integrations (for example SAP or similar)
  • Collaborate with external finance providers where functions are partially outsourced (such as transaction processing or reconciliations)
  • Provide commercial and operational support to other internal teams, including legal, people and project leads
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, including international reporting, due diligence and strategic planning

What We Need to See

n \n

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience leading a finance function within a fast-paced, multi-entity organisation
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls and compliance in a UK context
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or equivalent)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and team leadership skills

    What We Would Love to See

  • Experience managing outsourced finance teams or shared service centres
  • Exposure to international operations and reporting structures
  • Familiarity with internal control frameworks (such as SOX or similar)
  • Confident communicator with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset

    Location : London (Hybrid - typically three days per week in office)

    Salary : £100,000 to £125,000 + benefits

    Start Date : ASAP
