Senior Software Engineer – GenAI & Scalable Systems

London (Hybrid, 2–3 days / week) | Competitive Salary + Benefits

We’re hiring for a leading consumer tech company building out a brand-new AI team and they’re looking for a senior AI engineer to help design and scale the systems behind the next wave of Generative AI-powered products .

You’ll be at the heart of a growing AI function, building real systems that support live features used by millions, with plenty of runway to grow into AI specialisation, infrastructure leadership , or both.

What They’re Looking For

  • Strong software fundamentals – clean code, architecture, testing, performance
  • Solid experience in backend / infrastructure engineering , ideally with Python
  • Some exposure to AI / ML – through personal projects, online courses, research, or past roles
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, platform, and ML teams

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and building LLM- and NLP-based systems from the ground up
  • Working on retrieval-augmented (RAG) pipelines, embeddings, and hybrid search
  • Deploying and optimising GenAI features with real product applications
  • Collaborating across product, engineering, and ML to deliver scalable AI solutions
  • Shaping the technical foundations of a new AI team in a fast-moving environment
