Job description

Electrical Building Services Design Engineer

Meridian is working with a reputable and well-established M&E contractor in the North-west, who are looking to expand their Electrical Design team. Due to continued success, the team is growing, and they are now seeking an Electrical Design Engineer. You will collaborate closely with the Design Team and Electrical Managers to develop designs for Building Services fit-outs, including electrical layouts, power and lighting designs, and cabling structures throughout buildings.

Requirements for the role :

  • Experience designing commercial Electrical Building Services, including emergency lighting, power distribution, fire alarm and security systems, and lighting design
  • Experience developing designs using software such as AutoCAD, MEPWorx, Dialux, Amtech, etc.
  • A client-focused approach, understanding client needs while considering time and budget constraints
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong reporting and feedback skills to improve team performance
  • Excellent presentation skills and adaptability to client and supply chain needs
  • Degree and / or qualifications in Building Services Engineering are desirable but not essential
  • Responsibilities include :

  • Preparing documentation, schedules, and drawings according to RIBA work stages and Employer’s Requirements
  • Developing calculations and reports for client approval using industry-standard methods
  • Interpreting specifications to develop proposals and design drawings in line with client requirements
  • Supporting Junior and Intermediate engineers with technical advice
  • Providing technical support to Operations, Pre-Construction, and Estimating teams
  • Managing and developing client relationships
  • Occasional site visits to engage with clients, supply chain members, and subcontractors
