Cover Supervisors – Secondary Schools – Essex

Location : Across Essex

Start Date : Ongoing (Flexible start dates available)

Position : Full-Time / Part-Time / Flexible Days

Salary : Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications

TeacherActive is currently recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work in a variety of excellent Secondary Schools across Essex . These schools are looking for flexible, reliable individuals to provide general classroom cover or support within specific subject areas such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and more.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with teaching experience who are looking to gain further experience in education.

Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor :

  • Delivering pre-set work to secondary students in the absence of the regular class teacher
  • Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring students stay on task
  • Supporting students in their understanding of the material, without delivering new content
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to senior leadership or class teachers
  • Providing cover across a range of subjects, or within your area of expertise (where applicable)
  • Creating a positive and productive classroom environment
  • Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times

Qualifications & Experience :

We welcome applications from candidates who have :

  • A degree or equivalent qualification (ideal but not essential)
  • Experience working with young people – this could be in a school, tutoring, mentoring, sports coaching, youth work, or similar settings
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Confidence to lead a class independently
  • A passion for education and making a positive impact on student learning
  • Formal teaching qualifications (e.g., QTS, PGCE) are not required , but any relevant experience is highly beneficial.
