We are an FPGA design team delivering ASIC prototypes on FPGA platforms internally and externally in support Arm’s IP business model, based around Arm’s leading CPU and system IP solutions. These platforms are used for software development and IP validation activities both internally by Arm and externally by partners / customers.

The role involves building a detailed technical understanding of incoming Arm IP RTL designs and making relevant design changes to construct an FPGA prototype of this ASIC RTL, on FPGA.

You will be part of a project team delivering the prototype, working collaboratively to create an FPGA prototype for enablement and validation, working with verification and software engineers. Responsibilities include estimating and owning tasks, delivering against a plan, and focusing on engineering efficiency and quality.

The role includes RTL creation and modification, implementation constraints, and high-quality, clear, accurate technical documentation. Familiarity with writing and reviewing documentation is desirable. The candidate will be responsible for delivering designs using techniques such as gated clock conversion and synthesizable models to build accurate representations of real-world systems.

Responsibilities :

  • Modifying RTL from large complex systems to target a dedicated FPGA prototyping platform
  • Collaborating as part of a project team to deliver to a structured plan
  • Mentoring junior engineers
  • Liaising with development teams to understand requirements and guide design decisions, providing mitigations and alternatives when necessary
  • Translating technical requirements into estimated and sized work packages for project planning
  • Owning tasks, tracking progress, managing risks, and reporting status
  • Developing FPGA implementations for internal and third-party platforms to demonstrate Arm’s latest IP products
  • Commissioning FPGA prototyping hardware, including peripheral hardware specification

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Strong FPGA design skills, including RTL design, simulation, synthesis, place & route, constraints, and timing closure
  • RTL skills in Verilog / System Verilog or VHDL
  • Experience debugging complex designs in simulation and hardware
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to produce coherent documentation
  • Nice to Have Skills and Experience :

  • Understanding of ASIC / SoC prototyping in FPGA
  • Creative and structured problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Xilinx UltraScale+ devices and tools
  • Knowledge of DDR memory sub-systems implementation
  • Programming languages : assembly (Arm assembler), C, C++
  • Unix environment and shell scripting
  • Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, etc.
  • Knowledge of Arm IP and the AMBA standard
  • In Return :

Expand your expertise, be challenged, and work with advancing technologies. Collaborate with software, IP implementation, and verification teams in deep technical discussions within multifunctional engineering teams.
