About the Role

The Lead Platform Engineer plays a critical role in designing and delivering high-quality engineering services. Platform Engineers are cloud-agnostic, with niche skills applicable to specific technologies, business units, or organizations. They are responsible for guiding technical aspects of projects, managing teams to ensure successful delivery, and maintaining a strong commercial focus to optimize operational expenditure.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Phoenix Group as a Lead Platform Engineer within our Cloud Hub team.

The Role

The Lead Platform Engineer will design and deliver engineering solutions, set technical directions, build strategic partnerships, support change delivery, and coach team members.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design technical specifications and solutions
  • Align with architecture and strategy to ensure high-quality engineering
  • Develop relationships with strategic partners
  • Support delivery of change aligned with business outcomes
  • Contribute to planning and execution of major programs
  • Mentor and support team members
  • What We're Looking For :

  • Deep knowledge of cloud providers (Azure, AWS) and SaaS solutions (Salesforce, Oracle)
  • Experience with automation tools (Terraform, CDK), observability (Dynatrace), and DevSecOps tools (Jira, Github, Artifactory)
  • Experience with modern IT delivery practices, transitioning from traditional models
  • Automation skills for secure, scalable solutions
  • Strategic mindset with risk management skills
