James Shields Project - Transition Mentor (Nightshift)

We are currently recruiting a full-time Transition Mentor (Nightshift) to provide comprehensive support for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless. The service supports 10 young people in their tenancies, offering emotional support and building positive relationships.

As a Transition Mentor , you will join an established team playing a key role in promoting positive role modeling, ensuring each young person's voice is heard, and their individual needs are met. You will contribute to promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring access to information and opportunities within the local community.

This is a permanent, full-time position, 39 hours per week. Sleepover shifts may be included on a rotational basis and are paid at the hourly rate.

What you will need to bring to the role

  • Ability to build trusting, long-lasting relationships to effectively support young people and their families while maintaining boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting young people who have experienced homelessness and / or trauma.
  • Reliability and commitment to delivering vital community services.
  • Resilience and a positive approach to responding to conflicts or signs of distress.
