Job description

We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to work within our Data team to help shape and enhance our data capabilities. The role will involve applying analytical approaches, creating visualisations, and automating reports to communicate insights across all areas of the business. The candidate must understand stakeholder needs and collaborate to deliver effective solutions.

Development will focus on Power BI and supporting Tabular models, including transitioning legacy systems (SSRS and QlikView) to our Azure data platform. The ideal candidate can translate business needs into accessible data-driven insights for various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop data solutions using Power BI, Tabular Models, and DAX to meet business requirements
  • Present data insights in understandable, self-serve formats for stakeholders
  • Ensure data accuracy and produce reconciliation evidence from approved sources
  • Peer review development work for quality and adherence to policies
  • Support and enhance existing reporting solutions and perform ad-hoc analyses
  • Assist in transitioning legacy reporting solutions to the cloud platform
  • Build strong internal client relationships
  • Manage own tasks, plans, and priorities effectively
  • Stay updated on data and reporting technology trends

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience with Power BI, Tabular Models, and DAX
  • Strong T-SQL skills for querying and data manipulation
  • Experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder management skills to understand and meet data needs
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience with agile methodologies and Azure DevOps preferred
  • Experience with Databricks, SSRS, or QlikView is a plus
