Job description

About the Role We are recruiting a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with complex additional needs at a school in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a full-time, long-term position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. You will be working with pupils who have a range of needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition, and trauma-related behaviours. Many of the children have communication challenges and may display behaviours that require a calm, confident and consistent approach. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and help pupils manage their emotions
  • Support children with classroom activities, social development and daily routines
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive, supportive and safe learning environment
  • Where necessary, use de-escalation techniques and physical intervention strategies ________________________________________ What We're Looking For
  • Strong experience working with children with SEMH, autism and trauma
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately
