DeputyCounselling Manager

We are a patient-centred charity that deliverspalliative and end of life care to those with advanced life-limiting illnesses,who live in Northwest Surrey. We care for patients and provide support tofamilies and carers in the community as well as in our In-Patient Unit and WellBeing Centre at the Hospice.

You will, therefore, be joining a passionate anddedicated team of professionals that make a real difference to the familiesacross Surrey community.

Our counselling team consists ofskilled professionals who work closely with the Hospices clinical teams. Thelocations we see clients in are varied, and this post involves community aswell as inpatient work. The ability to travel in your own car to visit clientsat home is essential.

We are seeking a motivated andenthusiastic Deputy Counselling Manager who is client-focused and passionateabout palliative care. Ideally, you will have experience in counsellingindividuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families, as well as experiencein team collaboration and leadership. Excellent communication skills and theability to liaise with clients and staff at all levels are essential.

Main duties of the job

A successful Deputy Counselling Managerwillbe :

Able to demonstrate experience in working with those with life limiting illnessand their families.

Able to demonstrate experience in working as part of a team.

Able to train in basic counselling skills.

Willing and able to work flexibly.

Able to take on a leadership role and manage a team.

Proficient in managing their own workload and diary and be able andwilling to work in the community.

A member of the BACP, UKCP or comparable body.

BACP accredited or have a comparable qualification.

A successful candidatewill have :

Minimum 3 years relevantpost-registration experience.

Experience of working with patientswith life limiting illness

Degree in Counselling andPsychotherapy, or an advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy

This post issubject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Exceptions Order, 1975 and assuch it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to theDisclosure and Barring Service to check for anyprevious criminal convictions.

The Deputy Counselling Manager role isessential in supporting the hospice counselling team, ensuring that the higheststandards of care are implemented and that services meet statutory regulationsand national standards. The role involves maintaining a caseload of bereavedclients, pre-bereaved clients, and patients, as well as leading the BefriendingTeam.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, or an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • Accreditation or working towards accreditation.
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of current issues relevant to counselling and psychotherapy practice.
  • Both Adult and Child Accredited
  • Experience

  • A Minimum of 3 years experience post registration
  • Experience of working with patients with life limiting illness.
  • Experience of working in a Hospice / NHS organisation
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Can drive with full driving license.
  • Proficient verbal and written English skills with an ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An excellent problem solver.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work with attention to detail to ensure tasks and projects are executed with accuracy.
