Volunteer Role : Portage Practitioner

Organisation : Kids

Contract : 5 hours per week

Location : Southwark

Qualification required : Portage Workshop

Position Overview :

Join us in delivering a recognised Portage early intervention service for children under the age of 5 with disabilities, directly in their homes.

Work collaboratively with parents to provide a structured, child-led play program alongside tailored family support.

As a volunteer, you will support children and young people with disabilities. This is a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills in a fulfilling role, while also gaining a sense of accomplishment. We are committed to supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), young carers, and families. Our mission is to create a world where all children and young people have equal opportunities, regardless of their challenges. By providing comprehensive support, we empower disabled children to advocate for their rights.

Childhood should be a time of joy, but for some children with SEND, their experience is often shaped by limitations. We believe this should not be the case. Every child deserves an equal chance to play, learn, grow, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop strong partnerships with parents.
• Conduct regular weekly visits to families' homes together with a Portage Practitioner.
• Contribute to the development of intervention plans, including weekly activities and progress reviews.
• Contribute to the Kids Portage network.
• Adhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to working with children.
• Participate in supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
