Our IT Services business area provides technology for the services National Records of Scotland (NRS) delivers to our customers, including Architecture & Business Analysis, Project and Programme Delivery, Service Management, Cyber Security, Infrastructure Engineering & Support, Data Engineering & Support, and Digital Engineering & Support.
Working as part of our Digital Engineering Team, you will work collaboratively across NRS teams - and with digital delivery partners - on the development, testing, delivery, and ongoing support and maintenance of IT digital services, through carrying out the majority of the below duties / responsibilities.

Experience
Lead Experience 1. Your experience writing simple programs and scripts using JavaScript frameworks and either C# or Java, allows you to design, code, test, correct and document medium-complexity programs or scripts with the support of others.
Lead Experience 2. Your experience of implementing low complexity components using JavaScript frameworks and either C# or Java, allows you to assist as part of a team in the design of components of larger systems.

How To Apply
Apply online, providing a CV and Supporting Statement (of no more than 1000 words) which provides evidence of how you meet the experience listed in the Success Profile above.
We will test your experience as part of the sift process, and if successful, you will be invited to an assessment and interview where we will test these again along with the behaviours and technical skills listed above. Full details of the selection process will be made available to shortlisted candidates once the sift has been completed.
In the event of a large number of applications, an initial sift will be conducted using the CV and supporting statement on Lead Experiences 1 & 2 as listed above. Candidates who pass the initial sift will have their applications fully assessed against the other Experience criteria.
If invited for further assessment, this will consist of an interview and a practical coding exercise, which candidates will be asked to summarise and demonstrate as part of a presentation, in order to test the required technical skills. Details of the exercise and presentation will be shared in advance of the interview. Candidates will also be asked a series of questions to test their behaviours and experience.
Assessments are scheduled for w / c 25th August and 1st September, however this may be subject to change.

DDaT Pay Supplement
This post is part of the Scottish Government Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) profession, as a member of the profession you will join the professional development system. This post currently attracts a £5,000.00 annual DDAT pay supplement, applicable after a 3-month competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role. Pay supplements are reviewed regularly and there is one currently underway. Changes will be communicated when the review is concluded.
