Job description

We're working with a forward–thinking engineering business based in Ipswich that designs and manufactures complex automation equipment used in cutting–edge projects around the world. Due to continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their team and lead full lifecycle delivery of bespoke mechanical systems.

The Role :

  • Take full ownership of mechanical design projects from tender through to delivery and install
  • Produce high–quality CAD models using Autodesk Inventor
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team on machining, laser cutting, and welding requirements
  • Oversee on–site setting out, ensuring efficient and safe assembly of large–scale mechanisms
  • Engage directly with clients and internal teams to guide projects through all phases
  • Provide leadership in design reviews and develop engineering processes to support future growth

Requirements :

  • Strong background in mechanical engineering with proven design experience
  • Recent use of Autodesk Inventor
  • In–depth understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and laser cutting
  • Experience with hydraulically powered systems and preferably scissor–lift mechanisms
  • Solid knowledge of structural design and platform–based assemblies
  • Understanding of automation and mechanical systems integration
  • On–site installation and assembly experience
  • Confident communicator, capable of managing projects and client interaction from start to finish

    • Benefits :

  • Salary between 50,000 – 55,000
