Job description

Here within the @one Alliance, we are a collaborative organisation made up of our eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8. This will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before, focusing on nature-based solutions like wetlands and urban drainage schemes.

We are driving change, empowering us to set global benchmarks and build a better environment, with opportunities for growth and development. We aim to build on our existing teams with a career-oriented environment. With a portfolio of projects planned for AMP8, our ability to manage work and exceed customer expectations will be crucial.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, we are seeking a Civil Engineer to help deliver Water Non-Infrastructure (WNI) projects.

What you will be doing as our new Civil Engineer WNI?

You’ll create and develop value-driven civil designs that achieve our capital investment outcomes and deliver value. Under the direction of the project Technical Manager, you'll deliver Water Non-Infrastructure projects related to potable water assets within water treatment works or storage sites.

Responsibilities

  • Produce civil designs, calculations, and specifications for water-sector assets, including pipes made of ductile iron, steel, and plastic.
  • Work within multi-discipline teams to produce designs on time, within budget, and meeting standards, liaising with Operations, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Promote health and safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks, complying with Alliance CDM procedures.
  • Progress projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction.
  • Conduct site visits to assess asset conditions and provide survey data for design integration.
  • Support updates and expansion of Standard Products used in our designs.
  • Identify opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.

About your skills, experience, and behaviours

Ideally, you’ll hold a BEng or MEng / MSc Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, working towards Chartered Engineer status. You should have experience in structural calculations for concrete structures, civil engineering design within the Water industry, and proficiency with relevant engineering software. Confidence in British Standards and Eurocodes, and the ability to interpret ground investigation reports are essential.

You should be comfortable communicating with various stakeholders, with strong reporting, writing, and data analysis skills to understand challenges and suggest improvements.
